What does the project do and how does it work?
The project focuses on peer-to-peer energy trading and aims to use this trial as a base case for future perspectives. This project enables prosumers to generate revenue from the sale of excess energy to consumers. Further, blockchain technology enables real-time insights on energy consumption behavior using granular data.
Who is involved in the project and why?
Power Ledger, a blockchain technology solutions provider, looks to find new areas to deploy their peer to peer energy trading platforms. BCPG, a leading renewable energy generator, and developer, will design and install the connections, meters, and solar PV. Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), Thai Utility, will allow access to their network for the physical transaction of energy and leverage metering data from Power Ledger’s platform for customer billing. BCPG, MEA and Power ledger believe that blockchain can provide communities with lower-cost energy systems by allowing prosumers to monetize excess energy generation through selling energy to third parties.

The pilot implemented at T77 precinct involves the following large energy consumers: a shopping center, a school, an apartment building, and a dental hospital.
